After watching the private ambulance industry go through the pains of consolidation over the past few years, it seemed apparent to Nick O’Neil and George Gilpin that a simple premise in healthcare would always remain true… “Healthcare is a local business!”

No matter how hard the private ambulance industry tried to tout over the past few years that “bigger is better”, the one service segment that was affected most by the dynamics of rapid company growth, the customer, quickly formed opinions to the contrary. In spite of the noblest efforts, it soon became apparent that an industry that once prided itself on its “quality service values” soon found itself out of touch with two of its most important assets…its customer and its employee.

It was in this market environment that EasCare was formed. Our founders were convinced that it was time to open a locally based, locally managed, and locally dispatched ambulance service once again. One that would focus on a “Back to Basics” service philosophy and after tireless conversations with numerous healthcare executives, soliciting their input, the message was the same, “Build it and they will come!”

The Healthcare Community fast recognized the benefits to service delivery that open competition in ambulance transportation brought to patients and staff alike. Service choice is being respected and many facilities have now realized that exclusive ambulance contracts have not delivered the high service standards that were originally anticipated. We are pleased to have been the catalyst that enhanced the delivery of ambulance service, overall, by encouraging facilities to allow their staff to choose the service that they feel would be in the best interest of patient care. Competition works!
